Celalettin Kartal suggests calling him “Cezary” (Polish name) because he has been living in Poland for over 22 years. When asked what prompted him to paint his first work, he replies: “Cultural loneliness”. He recalls that the beginnings immediately after coming to Poland were difficult. He had the feeling of falling off a cliff and to art that, like a tree branch, cushioned it
fall and saved it from the end. “Art saved me,” he says, referring to the first vernissages in which he participated after moving to Poland. The people he mets turned out to be open and tolerant. Warsaw became home, and the contacts established with other artists often turned into real friendships.
Polyglot, using 7 languages, perceives art as a “common language”, blurring all differences, including demographic ones.
He treats painting as a space to search. Without inhibitions or barriers, he persistently and boldly uses his imagination, distortions and intense colors. While browsing through his artistic output, when he finds a painting which he considers to be unsuccessful, he openly says “it did not work out”. But why did he keep it and show it freely? Because the error acceptance element is for him a value that leads to self-development.
